Warme Geschichten für kältere Zeiten

Portrait of a gay artist as an aging man

On November 7, 2024, a special showing of the updated version of “Warm stories for colder times” will take place at 20:00 in the Quartier Theater im Bahnhof!

Over 20 years ago, Theater im Bahnhof approached the topic of homosexuality in a comedic form with 'Honigbrot - Die schwule Serie' (Honey Bread - The Gay Series), and now it seems time to take another theatrical look at this field. At first glance, much seems to have changed for the better.  We don't even have to look far beyond Europe's borders to realize how fragile the foundations of this opening are: A glance at Hungary or Poland is enough; but even where a high level of equality and anti-discrimination has been achieved at a legal level, the lived reality sometimes looks different. For example, while the Spanish government adopts the most progressive model in Europe on transgender issues, a young gay man is beaten to death in the north-west of the country at almost the same time.

In a very personal evening, Lorenz Kabas tells his own story, sometimes directly and undisguised, sometimes theatrically prepared via texts, movements, playbacks... It will not be a through-composed evening, but rather a circling of different topics, which are prepared in a modular way as individual set pieces and are expressed by chance on the performance evenings themselves; the sequence is therefore always different, and there is not everything on every evening.
